Lavazza Jolie Plus Review

Lavazza is one of the most recognisable names in coffee. Founded in Turin in 1895, Lavazza has more than 120 years of experience when it comes to coffee. We were given a Lavazza Jolie Plus to try out in the office for two weeks and it went down a treat.

Lavazza Jolie Plus – Ease of Use

One of the best things about the Jolie Plus is just how easy it is to set up and use. Simply get the 600ml water container, fill it up and put it on the machine. Take your A Modo Mio coffee capsule of choice, lift the handle and drop it in. There are two settings for an espresso or double it up with the lungo option. 35 seconds later and you have a piping hot cup of coffee.

The used capsule drops into a tray at the bottom of the machine that has room for 5 used capsules. The machine has a warning when the tray is full although if you miss it and use a 6th capsule the tray gets jammed as we found out on one occasion. The tray slides out easily for emptying. Keeping the machine clean is nice and easy too. All the parts are dishwasher friendly.

Lavazza Jolie Plus – Design

Lavazza Jolie Plus ReviewEverything else aside the Jolie Plus is just really good looking. Available in two colour options, gun metal grey or silver, both of which ooze class. At just 12cm wide, 24cm high and 33cm deep the machine is small too. It will comfortably fit in even the smallest kitchen spaces.

Lavazza Jolie Plus – The Coffee

The Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules come in a range of different flavours. A pack of 16 costs roughly £4.50 from supermarkets making each espresso cost 28p. A bargain compared to a coffee shop.

We tried two different flavours of Lavazza’s A Modo Mio coffee, Espresso Intenso and Lungo Dolce. Both went down very well in the office. There is no temperature setting on the machine but that’s okay because it comes out nice and hot.

The Jolie Plus has a cup stand that puts your espresso cup at the optimum height for the coffee. Alternatively if you are going for a double the stand comes off to make room for a bigger cup. Either way the coffee comes with a nice crema on top and tastes great.

Being a small machine there is no built in milk dispenser so this is an ideal machine for those who like their coffees black. You could always pair the machine with the Lavazza MilkUp frother if you want a latte.

The Verdict

Priced at a very reasonable £99 the Lavazza Jolie Plus is a great little espresso machine for those with a tight budget.
