I am yet to be converted to wireless earphones. So when a set of Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones landed on my desk I couldn’t wait to try them out.

With Apple’s decision to ditch a 3.5mm jack entirely it seems that other manufacturers will follow suit soon so chances are I’ll be taking the plunge sooner rather than later.

Motorola have been making true wireless earphones for a while now and their latest addition is the Motorola Stream Sport.

These sub £100 earphones come with ear hooks, three different sizes of ear buds and a charging case. Over the past month I’ve been trying them out while out running and cycling to see what they are like.

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Features

The earphones connect to your device via bluetooth. Pairing is quick and easy – just press the buttons on each headphone and they will pair with your device and with each other.

The earphones also feature a built-in speaker making them fully compatible with Google Assistant on Android and Siri on iOS. Furthermore the speaker means it is also possible to just connect one of the earphones and use it for making calls.

In my testing I found the bluetooth connection to be pretty good with the sound rarely dropping out. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given that they are actually produced by Binatone under the Motorola brand. Binatone have been known for some time as a producer of cordless phones.

The range on the Bluetooth is impressive too. Mostly you’ll be connecting to your phone which will be with you but in testing I was able to leave my phone in one room and move around the house without it cutting out.

The Motorola Stream Sport earbuds are IP54 certified. That means they are resistant to dust and water splashes. You can go out exercising in the rain and get all sweaty just as long as you don’t take them for a swim.

Despite the limited space Motorola have managed to fit three buttons on each earphone, play/pause and volume up/down. Various long pressing and double pressing offers up more functions.

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Look, Feel and Fit

The first thing you notice about the Motorola Stream Sport is how sleek they look. The body is black with red earbuds and ear clips. This combination gives them a really smart look.

The earphones come with 3 different sizes of earbud and after a bit of trial and error you will probably find a size that is right for you.

The ear hooks are detachable from the earphones and while they could be used without the hooks they don’t feel quite as secure especially during a workout.

Unfortunately in order to charge the earphones the ear hooks must be detached so they fit in the charging case. I guess this was done to make the charging case smaller than it would have been. A bigger case would have been considerably less fiddly though. I can see how it could be quite easy to lose the ear hooks when they are detached for charging.

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Sound Quality

When it comes to audio quality the Motorola Stream Sport offer decent performance. The earbuds could do with a bit of a boost to both the treble and the bass but there’s enough there for their purpose. If you want a better sound quality and have a bigger budget there are other alternatives you could consider.

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Battery Life

In comparison to most wireless earphones battery life is a little on the short side. From full charge the buds last around two hours. The charging case offers up two full charges taking the total battery life to six hours. The case itself is charge using the USB cable provided. Two hours would be fine for most workouts but longer runs or cycling would be problematic.

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Price & Value

With an RRP of £99.99 the Motorola Stream Sport come in much cheaper than a lot of wireless earphones on the market. They are currently available on Amazon. for the fantastic price of £59.59 (reduced from a usual £79.99).

Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones Review: Final Thoughts

The Motorola Stream Sport Wireless Earphones are a solid choice at a decent price combining a sleek look with an excellent Bluetooth connection and decent sound quality.
